TBD Race Calendar: July 2022

It is had to believe that July has arrived, but here we are: arguably the peak for the 2022 road season before at least some part of the race community starts thinking about August vacations and Fall cyclocross season. Before that happens, we have a look at the TBD Race Calendar for July.

Here is a look at the races that we’re most looking forward to, and as always keep an eye on the TBD Race Calendar for the full race schedule:

• July 2-4: we will forever miss the now extinct Dash for Cash at FBF, but the good news is there is still some racing to be had on the holiday calendar with the Shake N Brake Independence Grand Prix in Harrison, NJ. We frankly do not know much about this event, but are looking forward to hearing more about what looks to be a fun little criterium course next door to the Red Bull Arena.

• July 9-10: the second week in July looks to be the busiest of the entire month so let’s run through the options quickly. Closest to home for NYC residents, there is the fifth race in the Lucarelli & Castaldi Series in Prospect Park on Saturday. But there is also the increasingly rare weekend stage race taking place in New Jersey at the Giro del Cielo, which has a new course on offer. Lastly, there is the much beloved Capital Regions Road Race on Saturday as well. Take your pick and get out there to race!

• July 16-17: this is a closer to home race weekend with another Prospect Park race on Saturday, this time the Castelli Series. Then Sunday is a CRCA Club race weekend in Central Park.

• July 23-24: this may the weekend that we’re looking forward to the most, as Grant’s Tomb Criterium returns with a new summer date. We have argued that Grant’s is one of the best races on the calendar and we strongly recommend that anyone in close proximity to NYC consider coming out, whether its to race or just to spectate.

• July 30-31: the month closes out with another weekend of New York City centric racing that is headlined by the NYSBRA Track Omnium Championship on Sunday, though there is also a CRCA Open Race on the docket for Saturday as well.
