The 2025 TBD Road Race Calendar

It might be freezing cold and occasionally snowing outside, but it’s January in NYC and that means road season is just around the corner. While I personally agree that March is too early to race bikes (and February is certainly too early), not everyone in the tristate area agrees. CRCA kicks off with the first club race of the season on March 2 and the Prospect Park series starts soon after on March 9.

While putting together my own road calendar, I could not find one spot which aggregated all the local and local-ish races. There didn’t even seem to be a list of all the national crits anywhere! Instead, I had to look at a combination of Bikereg, individual race websites, and the New York State road race schedule spreadsheet. I’m hoping the below list is helpful for both longtime and new racers who would like to see all this info in one spot. It’s divided into three sections: local (you can ride your bike to these if you live in NYC!), within driving distance (assuming you are not like some of my teammates who consider driving to Denver a reasonable thing to do), and national (requires flying or a very long drive). All these events will be added to the TBD race calendar.

Local

TBD should have a good presence at all of these races (I plan to race a lot of them!). We’ve written about all these races extensively on the blog, for example, here, here, and here. If you’re new to NYC bike racing, check out our comprehensive guide.

Series:

  • CRCA Club Series: first race on March 2! You must be a CRCA member to race this series (unless you’re a cat 4/5 WTF racer)

  • Prospect Park Series: first race on March 9. It’s not yet on Bikereg, but I imagine it’ll be up soon.

  • Floyd Bennet Field Tuesday Night Race Series: this series is not yet confirmed, but it’s listed as tentative on the NYS road schedule and I am cautiously optimistic!

  • Branchbrook Park Spring Series: not yet on Bikereg, but almost certainly will happen starting in early/mid March

Individual races (these should all be on Bikereg within the next couple months):

Within driving distance

TBD plans to be at many of these races! I’ve starred the races that are particular favorites of mine or others on the team. Special shout-outs to Easton, which is imo the most fun and well-organized of the pro crits within driving distance, and Lime Rock, which is a sleeper of a hit.

Lime Rock GP. I was going to say photo by Scott Rettino, but that’s Scott racing! So photo by someone with Scott’s camera :)

National

You’ll notice that I’ve only listed crits here. That is all, I will not defend myself.

Some of these are part of the American Crit Cup, the only national series kind enough to publish a calendar. The rest of these are national-level crits that have formerly been part of the USA Crits series (is this still happening? who knows) and/or have a high level of attendance and organization. If you could only choose one of these, I would pick at least a couple days of Chicago Grit, the artist formerly known as Intelligentsia, a 10-day series that is some of the most fun I’ve had racing a bike.

These are the races that at least one person (me) and hopefully more from TBD are considering:

And these are some races that are also supposed to be pretty good but may not have TBD attendance:

Let us know in the comments if I’ve missed any fun events! And hope to see you at the races.
