Bike racing is Back: a short race report, and a weekend gallery
One thing I always loved about bike racing in New York City was the feeling at the first race or two in Central Park. It’s like coming back to school from summer vacation - everyone’s been on their trainers, or off riding bikes in warmer climes, and it’s just fun seeing who shows up to race again. This morning we had a solid squad in both the men’s and women’s A races, the fields were nice sizes, and while it was on the brisk side, we were all just excited to be out there. Especially for me, after four years away from the city, the excitement of riding bikes fast in Central Park before most of the city is awake was positively exhilarating.
As a team, we had a 7th place finish in the Women’s A field by Shane, and an 11th in the Men’s A field by Corey. But while results are nice, goal number one is always to have fun, and I would say on that front we were highly successful. While I was dead and bailed on the brekkie ride to the Market, I hear that much fun was had. We can’t wait for next week. I’m not even mad about setting my alarm for 5:30 am on a Saturday.
