TBD's 2024 Holiday Gift Guide
I know it might seem way too early but I started getting Black Friday sale emails as soon as the clock hit midnight on Halloween. So it feels like it might be time (gulp) to start thinking about holiday gifts. Whether you’re buying a gift for a friend or family member or yourself, here are some items that TBD loved this year.
* Prices accurate as of Nov/Dec 2024 but these are subject to change. View the products by clicking on the images
UNDER $30
Hayes Brake Alignment Tool ($19)
The perfect gift for the obsessive in your life, the one who is constantly fiddling with their disc brakes and trying to get them to align properly. This handy tool removes the need for pesky little tricks with business cards!
Castelli Thermal Headband* ($18)
TBD tested, Doug approved.
*Doug the doggo not included
Smartwool Merino Gloves ($22)
Lightweight, breathable. Great for tossing in a pocket or bar bag as emergency liner gloves in the winter. Also great for cold weather running (I know this is a bike blog, I’m sorry).
Shark River Devo Beanie ($30)
Get a nice cozy hat and help our friends at Shark River Devo travel to CX nationals!
A giant box of Uncrustables ($14)
I recently learned that some of our TBD teammates had never tried Uncrustables. Don’t worry this has since been remedied!!! You too can give your friends and loved ones a double-whammy of a gift: a perfectly squishable ride snack and no more “It’s Matt from The Feed” emails.
Defeet Wool Socks ($25)
I was gifted these exact socks last year and I love them. Cozy, warm, seasonal, cute.
Under $75
Le Tour de France Christmas Jumper ($34)
Please buy this for someone. (Please buy this for me).
Castelli Seamless Leg Warmers ($49)
These are perfect for people who usually hate leg warmers. They’re lightweight (almost like stretchy yoga pants material), they don’t cut off your circulation, and don’t squish as awkwardly as some other leg warmers.
Silca Chain Waxing System ($75)
Okay look, I know waxing is not for everyone. It is definitely too much faff for me. But people who love waxing LOVE WAXING and they will love this. Also an excellent gift for your partner if you personally would like to somehow magically end up with a waxed chain without doing it yourself (this is my trick).
Wera Hex Key Set ($35)
These Wera allen keys were the first bike tools I ever bought and they’re still going strong many years later. Plus, they’re color-coded, which makes it super easy to find the right size.
Star Track x IAMICANIWILLIDO T-Shirt ($35)
Support the Star Track kids with this T-shirt designed by one of their racers!
Castelli Perfetto RoS Gloves ($45)
Keep those fingies toasty and cozy in the winter. These are but a small sampling of Castelli’s many, many gloves for all weather and all occasions. I personally like the Perfetto RoS gloves for fall and early winter in NYC. They offer a nice bit of flexibility while still feeling warm and cozy.
under $150(ish)
Escape Collective Membership ($99)
If you know someone who’s not yet subscribed to Escape Collective, gift them a subscription! This is imo the highest-quality cycling journalism out there right now and that’s worth paying for.
Garmin Varia Rearview Radar ($149)
The Garmin Varia doubles as a rear light and a radar that lets you know when cars are approaching from behind. A really excellent gift for keeping your cyclist friends safe.
Airshot Tubeless Pump ($77)
Please buy this for anyone in your life who has tubeless tires but does not yet own this. They will thank you!
Castelli Unlimited Bibs ($138-$159)
We’ve sung the praises of the Castelli Unlimited bibs many times (including here and here), but I have just one word: pockets!!!! Why don’t more bibs have pockets!! These also come in full-length tights and a slightly updated cargo version.
Pedal Industries Race Day Bag ($89)
This bag doubles as a packing list and a convenient way to transport your bike and non-bike stuff. There are several separated zip pockets for items like tools, kit, glasses, and nutrition and two larger pockets for shoes, helmet(s) and/or bottles. You can buy a standard color or personalize the design!
Ripton Diesel Overalls ($149)
I do not personally own these but I’ve heard positive reviews from others on the team. Plus, they look good both on and off the bike.
