A Very Hard to Miss Specialized Epic S-Works
We have been fortunate to feature quite a number of unique bikes on the Journal. But none have featured a paint job quite like this Specialized S-Works Epic Mountain Bike. Listed on the Specialized website as “Gloss Carbon/Cobalt Marble/Brassy Yellow Marble/Vivid Coral/Oasis”, that technical description doesn’t do justice to the vibrance of the this bike’s finish:
While the paint job is hard to miss, the rest of the build doesn’t hold back either. The suspension is the stock Specialized enhanced Brain setup topped with an XX1 AXS build kit, the (1240 gram!) Roval Control SL Team LTD wheelset, and a Reverb AXS eDropper post. Even with the relatively heavy eDropper and a Quarq powermeter the full build tips the scales at just over 23 pounds — for a full suspension mountain bike!
In person it’s a beautiful and hard to miss bike and we look forward to testing it out on some of the trails around NYC - with a full report to come after some wear and tear. For now though we’ll just have to settle for a few pictures of the sparkly clean bike after it was built by ACME Bicycle Co with the odometer still sitting at 0 miles:
