TBD Race Calendar: June 2019
So, summer has finally arrived. Winter weather is solidly in the rear view mirror, weekday racing is underway in New York City and the Central Park Open Racing calendar (which is super compacted this year thanks to schedule conflicts) has already kicked off. It’s a busy month of racing ahead in June so without further ado:
Week one has officially come and gone! Central Park Open Racing kicked off with the 2019 Dave Jordan Central Park Classic. We covered it extensively on the Journal, examining the registration trends (it was record turnout!) and recapping what was a pretty awesome day of racing that was headlined by our new teammates kicking butt in the Elite Women’s field.
This weekend - the second of the month - you’ll catch us Saturday in Prospect Park for round 4 of the Castelli race series but we also highly recommend checking out the Historic Riverton Criterium on Sunday as well. It’s a drive from NYC but in our experience well worth the travel time.
June 15th and 16th is an especially busy weekend of racing with Tour of the Hilltowns for the climber/road racers amongst us, while the Park Monsters have Saturday in Prospect Park for the L&C Series and CRCA in Central Park on Sunday. Later in the day on Sunday is the famous Harlem Crit that once again features monster prize pools.
Week three is another good one with the second Central Park Open Race of the year, the Lou Maltese Memorial on Saturday. There is also a Pocono Road Race the same day, but we don’t have any first hand knowledge of this one.
Last but not least the month closes out with the Palmer Cycling Grand Prix, which we hear good things about and the last Central Park Open Race of the year, the CRCA Mengoni Grand Prix (that was moved up a few weeks at the request of another race promoter to avoid a schedule conflict).
Well there you have it - a monster month of racing in June. As always head over to the TBD Race Calendar for additional detail on these events.
