TWTW: The Summer That Was
Well, this is the last The Week That Was for summer 2018. Its been a huge one for the team. We sent it in Vermont, won a stage race, won a few mountain bike races, got too many 2nd places, did crits for 10 days in Chicago, got new beautiful bikes, and a hundred more things you can read about on this here journal.
This week on the journal, we'll have some more words and images about the number one way to LARP as a pro cyclist, Intelligentsia Cup. Theres also a dispatch from our LA outpost scheduled for tomorrow. We've also got some really cool things planned for cross season a highlight being a new fleet of Garneau's Steeple-X.
This was my first summer on TBD and I cant imagine doing this silly sport at the amateur level with any other group of guys. Before we roll off into full on cross season, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my favorite entries from the year, along with the typical cycling news stories from the week.

Other News From The Week
Shane Ferro, of CityMD Women's Racing hosted a beginner 'cross clinic for the women/trans/femme community of NY to introduce cross skills and encourage more women to overcome their fears and challenge themselves in cyclocross. The event was a great success with over 15 women participating in the full weekend event taking place in both Rainey park for skills and Cunningham trails for technique practice. In addition to the drills led by Shane's expert instruction, Sun and Air gave an in depth cyclocross mechanic and maintenance session and Q&A. We look forward to hearing more details in the near future from Shane herself in what is becoming an annual event!

Aimee Layton of CityMD makes the news with the awarding of a grant for her work researching the effects of disease on the lungs, often using an exercise bike to garner detailed patient test results.
A big week for CityMD on impacting TWTW, Liz Marcello and Shane Ferro both make appearances in calling out our failing NYC infrastructure on the Hudson River Greenway in Fort Washington Park.
Speed cameras finally get the vote to come back in time for the school year - a very small victory in the ongoing battle against NYC's ridiculous transportation policies.
Cross is coming and with it we have a giant shipment of a dozen Garneau Steeple-XC bikes headed to NYC. With that in mind we're brushing up on disc brake choices and maintenance thanks to CX Mag.
PArting SHot
The Vuelta isn't everyone's cup of tea but Sunday's smash mouth finish on narrow roads in Southern Spain was more entertaining than just about anything in this year's TDF:
