TBD Race Calendar: June 2018

June is just around the corner and with it comes the busiest two month stretch of racing in New York City. Weekday racing will be fully underway with Rockleigh Thursdays, Floyd on Tuesday/Thursday and Kissena track races on Wednesdays. Meanwhile the upcoming weekends are absolutely jam packed with races, including some out of town favorites that we think are well worth the drive. With all that in mind a brief look at the TBD Calendar for June follows below - as always if we're missing anything just drop us a note and we'll make sure to add it.

  • The Dave Jordan Central Park Classic kicks things off with a bang on June 2nd. Featuring a big $7,000+ prize pool this is certainly the most prestigious race on the the Central Park calendar and in recent years the event has sold out so get your registration in ASAP if you want to be on the start line (at 5:30AM --- ooof). Our Weekend Roll from the 2017 edition of the Dave Jordan Central Park Classic has a sense for what to expect at this year's race.

  • The second weekend in June features a plethora of great race opportunities. For road race inclined racers there is the Purgatory Road Race in Sutton Mass (shout out to our friends at GLV). Meanwhile criterium racers have the top notch Armed Forces Cycling Classic down in Arlington, Virginia but we'll likely be sticking a bit closer to home at the Historic Riverton Criterium just outside Philadelphia. And if that isn't enough to choose from there is also a Castelli Series race in Prospect Park for those inclined toward early mornings and local races.

  • The crowded weekend calendar carries through to the third weekend in June where there is a local Prospect Park race but you can find us at the H2H Stewart Poison Ivy Mousetrap Mountain Bike race just North of New York City. We're bringing a big squad out to this off-road race, including a bunch of first time MTB racers so we fully expect hilarity to ensue. Sunday features the Harlem Skyscraper Criterium which excitedly is part of USA Crits and features equal prize money after some of the concerns that came to the forefront last year. For those more inclined to park racing we'll see you on the start line of CRCA Club Race 6 that same morning.

  • There is finally a bit of a down weekend during the fourth weekend in June with no local races on the calendar. As a result we'll likely be heading north to the Greenfield Criterium. A few TBD racers took part in last year's edition and came back with rave reviews for the entire event - check out Chris Burati's race report here: Geenfield Criterium + Camping

We'll save the final Saturday of the month for our July calendar introduction as it features the tough choice between heading north for the finale of New England Crit Week or staying local for the CRCA Lou Maltese Memorial where last year's race might have featured the hardest rain we have ever ridden in.
