A Season in the Slop: The 2018 Cyclocross Season in Photos

Katie Busick. Supercross Cup 2018

It’s fitting that the US cyclocross season wrapped up by taking one last mud bath at Nationals—where 15-time champ Katie Compton called the conditions the most ‘epic’ of all the nationals she’d ever raced. This was the wettest year on record for a number of cities on the east coast, and the weather delivered one of the muddiest cyclocross seasons in recent memory. In summary, Climate Change beat us all this season. We are burnt-out to a crisp. But before we go, let’s take a last look at our favorite photographs and races from the 2018 ‘cross season. A big thanks to all of the photographers who trekked to each race this year to capture our best (and worst) moments.

The Garneau DreamFactory delivers again with a series of incredible custom colorways for our Steeple CX lineup—red, blue, blood, pink and navy.

HPCX

Verge CycleSmart International Northampton:

It tried to be muddy. It really did. But despite a two-day downpour before the race, the course drained overnight so well that, by God, it was sunny and dry and people were riding file-treads.

Rockland County Supercross Cup

We don’t remember what you’re talking about. What race? Seriously we’ve blocked it from memory. Say the word “mud” again. I dare you.

Lizzy Gunsalas

Sixteen-year-old Lizzy Gunsalas raced in Men’s category 3 in the each of the ultra-competitive NECX Vittoria Series and beat TBD on multiple occasions this season. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for this bright talent.

NBX

Steven Hyde returned from injury to annihilate the field just before Nationals, while Katie Keough cruised to victory. Spencer Petrov, well, was Spencer.

Rainey Park Cyclocross

Keith Garrison showed the big races how it’s done. He had more beginner men and women race than either Supercross and HPCX. Well-done, Keith.
