65 Degrees in December
With El Nino gifting New York City absolutely spectacular mid-December weather it is a challenge to avoid riding too long and hard - lest we be reminded that it is in fact the offseason and race fitness is still several months off in the distance.
With that thought in the back of our mind the team headed out bright and early with some of our friends from CityMD Women's Racing for upwards of 105 miles in sixty-five degree weather. Most of the ride was lively but reasonable - including an obligatory mid-ride stop for cider doughnuts.
However somewhere around mile seventy our caravan split into two groups and hammer started getting dropped, making for a very fast and more than slightly painful return trip. Thankfully that night was one of the team's annual birthday/holiday/ugly sweater parties, with more than enough cold beverages to help recover from the day's effort. Here's hoping this weather sticks around.
